In life, we can either let our experiences make us bitter, or we can channel that feeling towards being a good example in order to improve things.

My internship awhile ago

I was taking Early childhood 21 and I had to do interning in a preschool as a student teacher. What's annoying is that the preschool director, when she walked into the room, assumed that I don't do much because I'm just walking around. Yes, I was walking around, but that's not all I did. She didn't see the times I sat with the children and interacted with them. Later she told me that I should engage and interact with the children more. While that's true that I could improve on that, she shouldn't expect me to be on the same level as the teachers. I guess she was expecting someone who gets into it right away, where as I needed to warm up before getting into it. But I DID try and made some progress. She just didn't see it.

What she didn't understand was that my assignment was to observe first for awhile and then start engaging and interacting with them.
I was doing both observing and interacting, because there was plenty of time for both.
Oh well, I guess everything is for the best.

I keep procrastinating

There are many things that I need to do and I keep procrastinating. I'm just really lazy and so I do other things and then I forget to do what's on my list. I do though get a few things done, of course. But still, I should keep it up.

Sometimes I feel like I'm not getting anywhere in life. Sure I went to college, but I don't have a job yet. I did have a summer job, but that was four years ago and temporary. I need something that will help me be financially independent. I applied at some places and called them, but I didn't hear from them yet. There's still this other place that I was thinking about though, I just need to get the phone number first. And if I don't find something in this peticular field, I guess I'm going to have to find a different job before I can do the one I want.

As for the small things that are on my to do list, some of it I have finally done, but there are still some things left to do.

Rushing vs. Enjoying

A blur of different colors,
both people and cars
It was hard to tell who's coming
and who's going.

In the park, she just sat there.
And then looked up at the
bright sky and the leaves that
rustled in the cool wind.
Trees makes excellent scenary,
she thought.

Looking out of the window at home,
the sky was orange and pink.
Purple followed, then medium blue
and finally, dark blue.

She runs errands like others
but also enjoys the moment
while it's here.

Just something I wrote

The Sparkling Sea
-
They were going squba diving.
The sparkling moonlit water of the
sea beckoned them to come in.
And they did.
Inside, the phosphorescence illuminated
all around them as they swam forward.
And they enjoyed every minute of it.

challenges and overcoming them

I wrote something similar on hashkafah.com and decided to put it here also.

In life we have many challenges and tests. One thing we should remember though is that whatever challenge we are given, we can overcome it and pass. I don't think Hashem would give anyone a test that s/he can't overcome. And yet a lot people still think that there are some challenges that people can't get through b/c they see that some people never overcame theirs. While yes some people don't overcome their challenges, that doesn't mean they didn't have the abilitiy. It just means they didn't reach their potential. One question I have is how do we believe in Hashem and then not trust Him. I believe that He is compassionate and wouldn't give us a challenge that's impossible for us to overcome.

And for those who want more info. Here's an excerpt from this link.

By Dovid Dubov
"You Can Do It
It is self-evident that the Creator, who knows the world and its creatures, would not give an order or command too difficult to carry out. If He has given specific commandments for each and every Jew, in his own unique circumstances, to fulfil, it is certain that He has first given us the capacity to fulfil them. Some Jews are born with greater natural capacities, others with less, therefore the challenges and trials that G–d presents to each are in keeping with their strength. As our Sages say, “G–d does not deal despotically or arbitrarily with His creatures” and He does not expect the impossible. If a person is faced with great trials this, in itself, is proof that he has the capacity and strength to overcome them. Nothing stands in the way of the will and, given the proper effort, it is possible to overcome all difficulties."

My Weekend

On sunday, I went to Venis beach with my friend and her friends. Actually, first we had lunch, then we headed for the beach. We walked along the boardwalk and my friend kept looking at the jewlery that was on different tables. There were some interesting people there, some odd and some normal looking. Then we came to a gathering and I was wondering what people were looking at. After trying to figure out what's going on, I noticed that there was a man doing a funny performance for money. That explains it. Then I lost my friend and looked around and wondered how I would find her. Fortunatly, she's the kind of person who yells your name when she can't find you. I followed her voice, found her, and we continued walking. The other two girls were somewhere else.

Venis beach prides itself on freedom of expression. On one area of the boardwalk, there were a bunch of dry erase boards with liberal messages galore, next to the tables where people were selling things. And passerby's are reading this stuff and some probrably believe it too. And I'm not talking about the usual issues, this stuff talks about conspiracies and stuff. There was also a Jews for J table which at first looked like a pro Israel table, but after I looked at what the piece of the paper handed to me said, I figured out what it was and put the flyer in a trash can.

After walking a little more, my friend bought a soda and I bought a hershey bar. Afterwards, she was looking at Jewlerly again and when she was done, I suggested we go look at the people roller skating. We walked towards that area which looks like a round skating/dance floor and after standing for a few minutes, we sat down on the grass and enjoyed the show. Man, those skaters can really dance. After that, we decided to find where the other girls are, and after cell phoning them and agreeing where to meet, we found them and walked back to the car.
My 1st post. Well I guess I should tell about myself. I am a frum girl in my 20's and like to read, write, listen to music, be with friends and help people. I was going to college and now I'm looking to work. I plan on having a simple blog that's enjoyable for both me and others. And so here goess...
