In life, we can either let our experiences make us bitter, or we can channel that feeling towards being a good example in order to improve things.

Infinite tunes

Recently, I was thinking about the huge amount of songs that there are in this world. With all the songs from the past and present and from all around the world, it's amazing how there seems to be an endless amount of tunes. Have you noticed this? Of course, some people use some from others. But there still are original tunes being made constantly. Very interesting how there's always more to be found.

I know. I think about that sometimes too. Like, how is it that new tunes can keep on being created? There are only seven notes... Its truly amazing.

You're right. It's a deep thing to think about...

I think there's a medrash somewhere that says when Moshiach comes there will be 2 more notes added to the octave. That would enable a myriad more harmonies--let alone songs--to be composed...Imagine how breathtaking it'll be then...

Nice muse. Maybe this has something to do with why music can be so deep, personal, and expressive.

Whoa, AK -- who are you?! I mean, I gave up my AidelKnaidel to be BasMelech... but really, this is too flattering ;)

It is said that the more a tune stirs something within us the nearer it is to a tune sung in the beis hamikdosh, and every true tune originates from there. I guess much of what is around might not be considered music ;)

Interesting thought... kindof like how there's only a limited number of words in any language, but people still manage to come up with new combinations every day.

that would be similar with anything - art, maths, cooking, dance, whatever. art you have a certain palette of colours yet each painting by an artist is completely individual. math - there are limited numbers to use but the possibilities of equations are also seemingly endless.

BAS, I heard that too.

Sorah, I have a classmate in college who loves to do that

Sarah, yea it's incredible
