In life, we can either let our experiences make us bitter, or we can channel that feeling towards being a good example in order to improve things.

Something else

-
A friend of mine at college suggested that I join myspace. I don't think it's a good idea, with the dangers, etc. Besides, I have a blog and write on forums. I don't really need to have something else. I'm not that addicted. :)
Later that night, I was looking at it and was tempted, but I decided no. I think I'll stick with emailing friends and phoning them.

So would you want one or no?

dangers of myspace? :)

Well, you could join to look, and check it out first, and if you decide to post, you can leave out information. My son has a place there, which I have seen. It seems popular for the 20ish crowd.

Check it out and trust your instincts.

I have a MySpace page, mainly because I wanted to be able to communication with my brothers, who are all on it. But the truth is, I don't really have much interest in it, and only logon once in a great while. But that's mainly because I have my blog.

Okay, so here's my little myspace rant: I think that myspace is popular because it allows you to portray yourself in a way that others may not have seen before. My friend made one for me when I was in public high school, when myspace first started - and I just have to say as a former addict that the myspace community and what people are willing to post of themselves has gotten pretty frightening. I like blogs because they're genuine, but I kind of feel like myspace has become kind of an self-indulgent advertisement of yourself. I also think that it has lead people to judge each other more superficially, allowing what is written on their profiles to define who they are - the opposite of their intentions.
LOL, I definitely don't think you'd use myspace to that extent, but at the same time, you might as well stay out of the myspace chaos. Not that I've managed to delete my account yet.

My space is boring anyway. Its like getting started somewhere new all over again. a bunch of kids typing like hey ur so sxy n i luv u
Pretty lame. If you already have a blogspace and your own friends here, Id stick to it.

mookie, :)

barbara, true

shoshana, yea if I would do it, it would be to talk to friends I know. But then I don't really need that, I could talk to them other ways. It's just another way to do it. Plus, I agree about being more interested in blogging.

Jessica, it's true, it is scary the amount of info. that people give about themself. And I agree about those other points too. In my opinion, blogs have more content and substance. Thanks for the advice.

sara, that happened to someone I know. Someone wrote something very silly to them. Of course, I could set it to private, where only friends can see. But I think I'll stay here.

myspace seems very high school. but if you are worried about safety then stick to something that allows more anonymity.

I don't think that you should get one. My wife recently got one and said that it is so she can talk to old friends. I think that it is very dangerous, especially for a woman to have a page. I am not happy that my wife has one and I hope nothing bad will happen from it.

From what I understand it is to make friends on the internet. I have no such interest. If its something you want, try it out.

Kas & Prag, it's probably better that you don't. lol

Social, that's true

Sarah, good point

FWQ, yea that's what I'm worried about too. A good idea for her would be to set her profile on private.

FG, for me it would be to talk with friends I know. But we could talk other ways without it. And so there's no point.

She has her profile as private and you are only allowed to view it if you are invited. I think that myspace is the new AIM except with more features.

Lvnsm27 said...

Yea it does seem like a new AIM W/ more features. I guess that's why people like it.

whats myspace about?

Lvnsm27 said...

it's where people have their own webpage where they show their picture and give a lot of information about themself and leave comments on their friend's page.
Sometimes though, strangers leave weird comments.
