Finally Went
This past evening I finally went with a couple of my friends to a shiur that's on every Tues. evening. I've been planning on going with them for a while but kept forgetting. Well, finally I remembered and made arrangements to go with them. It's in the YOLA boys highschool building(10 points if u can figure out what those letters mean) which is nice because they remodled the place very nicely. We listened to a shiur on lifnei iveir in the modern world and later another one on hashgacha pratis. Both were very interesting and informative.

YOLA= yeshiva of LA?
Yep. It used to be called Yula but since it's not a university it was changed to Yola, but a lot of people still say Yula.
I always wondered how a high school took on such a grandiose identity. And now I'm wondering why it has a shiur for girls.
Hmm, I wonder if Chicago has a similar offering. I mean, I could learn Torah and meet eligible young frummies.
Actually, the tues. evening shirurim are by an organinzation that is just using the building and it's just for girls.
My brother goes to YOLA. Who gave it?
I was wondering. I was familiar with YULA. YOLA doesn't have the same ring to it, although I actually know a guy whose wife's name is Yola.
En, the first speaker was R. Asher Brander. I forgot though who the second speaker was.
AFI, I agree, it doesn't have the same ring to it. Thats probably why a lot of people still say Yula. :)
I can't call it YOLA. It will always be YULA to me. So many memories around that place.
Yea, when I speak it, I usually say Yula. It's true, once you get use to a name, it's hard to switch to a diff. one. Even if it's similar.
