In life, we can either let our experiences make us bitter, or we can channel that feeling towards being a good example in order to improve things.

rhetorical questions

Recently I had an exam in this class, psychology of marketing. At the end of the exam, there were a couple of questions that were not related to the exam. The teacher justed wanted to know our viewpoint.
They are the kind of thought provoking questions inwhich the answer is subjective.

The first one was, 'if an author writes on a certain page that this page is blank, is the page still blank or not?'

The second one was about how do you prove to yourself whether you are dreaming or awake?

These remind me of that rhetorical question that many have heard, "If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around, does it make a sound?'' To me, this is not a good example. If you think about it, the sound waves are still there, whether someone is there or not. It doesn't disappear because nobody is there to listen. That's my thought anyhow

making a difference

There's going to be a basketball game here on Oct 20 involving the Los Angeles Clippers and the Maccabi Tel Aviv team.

The proceeds go to a youth villiage in Israel named Migdal Ohr which helps disadvantaged children; The organization was started by Rabbi Grossman who's from Jerusalem; Even without superpowers, it's truely amazing what one person can do, Baruch Hashem
Here's a video of the place there

having superpowers

materialmaidel tagged me to do this meme about supowers.

Rule number 1: Read the rules.
Rule number 2: Write one superpower you would like to have and what you would do with it.
Rule number 3: Write why you chose that super power over everything else.
Rule number 4: Tag and link 7 people, and write why you think they will have an interesting meme.
Rule number 5: fix your broken links.

I was thinking of making my superpower be completing house work instantly. For ex, snap my fingers and the dishes are done, or the vacuum cleaning. However, I don't really mind doing house work. - A long time ago, it would take people all day just to make dinner. Now it's takes a short time.

What I would really like is to complete my college homework instantly. For example, if I have an essay or report to write, I just snap my fingers and the report is complete. Just need to print it out. That would be nice. Don't have to worry about writer's block and having it finished on time. I chose this over other super powers because this one really interests me. There are others that interest me as well, but I chose to write this one.

I tag

Staying afloat Because she's a sweet woman with a lot of strength BH

Floatingreflections Because I can imagine her being creative with this

Thinking out loud Because she's good with mashals

SerandEz because his would be really cool

Erachet I can imagine hers being sophisticated

I know that's only five, but some others I was thinking of were already tagged

Sukkos in Israel

My brother went to Israel in the spring and my sister went this summer; I have yet to go there. But hopefully someday

One thing that I would love to experience is Sukkos in Israel. I read an experience about someone who wrote that in Israel, you can feel the energy everywhere, the atmosphere is amazing. - We too feel it here when we walk around. But there, it's on a whole different level. I can only imagine what the simchas beis hashoeva(sukkah party) must be like. If you have any stories of your experience there, I would like to read it

One really good lesson about Sukkos is having guests come to our sukkah. The message is, lets come together, the door is open. This experience is especially fun for younger individuals who like to go to their friends sukkahs.

Btw, I'm going on a break, but you can look at other things on here, there's plenty of topics

Frozen at the station

Funny video check it out

Foundation

-
Two trees
One of them had thin roots
and was easily impacted by
the wind.
The other one had a strong
foundation and stood strong.
The wind had very little impact.

In life, it is very important that we have a strong foundation. Some of us are given this and some are of us are not, sadly. However, we can try to build it up by seeking a supportive mentor to ask questions to, or receive advice. Or go about it ourself and find information to strengthen our emunah and connection.

When one doesn't have this strong base, then any "wind" that comes their way, for example, something upsetting, might make them fall. However, with a good foundation, the person stays up, even when there's a lot of 'wind', their basic knowledge and belief remains intact. This is why it's important for parents and teachers to give this to children.
In a recent article, someone mentioned that it's not enough that we have an external belief, inwhich we believe because that's how we're taught. We need to make it our own by thinking about it and comming to our own conclusion about the truth of Torah. And educators should accept questions and give answers in order to help strengthen emunah.

Lets keep striving to search, think, learn diff things and grow

Looking inside

The person sat and looked inside themself;
They weren't sure what to work on first,
So many things came to mind.

After some thinking though, they had some ideas.
Now comes the tricky part, applying it.
They decided to take it slow and do it gradually.

Discouragement might come along the way.

What counts though is to just make an effort
and continue on.

Ahh the imagination

Some time ago, a couple of friends and I made up a story involving a band. It was our band. That's what you have when you mix your enjoyment of songs and enjoyment of stories together.

We would come up with song titles and lyrics for different songs and make an album. It was interesting. - It was really like a poetry album because it didn't have a CD. - Later though, one of them moved away, and the band disembled.

However, we're now back together again via Facebook and making songs again. Our band has reunited. - Our song writing might be less often than before, since we are all busy. But we'll do it when we can.
