In life, we can either let our experiences make us bitter, or we can channel that feeling towards being a good example in order to improve things.

Well last week on wednesday, my friend R. and I finally did something before she goes back to school. I'm planning on working though and maybe continue with school later.

On shabbos, I saw other friends and we sat around in the living room with the fan on. Boy, it was hot outside. At first we were just sitting and talking and then we decided to go visit someone. We split up, two or three going to the old age home and three of us going to visit someone else. We spent some time with this disabled girl that we know. She is so sweet and her younger brother and sister are really cute too. Then we came back and sat around again. The others, who went to the old age home, came back as well. Then a couple more girls came. I love lounging around and relaxing with friends. It's so simple, yet so enjoyable. Then we had shalosh suedos which was still going after shabbos ended.

This week, I'm going to the east coast, IY'H. And so I won't be blogging for awhile.
Have a good week everyone.

Knowledge and Emunah

We need both.

Knowledge we need because it helps up to understand how and why to believe what we believe. It is much easier to believe something if we know why to believe it. And there IS information out there.
Those who really want to have a good foundation but just need information in order to strenghthen their emunah will keep searching for the info. until they find it. If you seek info. though and have a difficulty getting what you want, don't give up, the info is there. Of course, sometimes, you can get a bunch of answers, and you still want more. That's why we need both knowledge and emunah. Knowledge to help us comprehend certain things, and emunah because we can get all the info. we want but if we're not willing to look beyond the physical, then the info. won't help if we don't allow ourself to peer through the physical and see beyond. Knowlegde and emunah go hand in hand.

Here's a good book.

'The Meaning Of Tu B'Av'

Here's a nice Tu b'av article that I found.

'The Meaning Of
TU B'AV'
by Rabbi Yisrael Meir Lau

"Six events occurred on Tu B'Av, the 15th of Av,
making it a festive day in the Jewish calendar."

Excellent Album

The album by the group Sakrfys called 'Sibling Rivalry' is a great album. It has eleven songs and talks about unity, mashiach, helping fellow Jews, prayer, 'at risk' teens and giving them love and time and space, and a has a message about people not seeing beyond the physical.

To hear clips, here's their album Click here

My heart is with you

I just want to say that my heart is with those who are being expelled from their homes. And I pray that whatever happens, everybody will be safe and okay.

TRW has an excellent pic.

We need to practice shemiras haloshon

Our words can be used for good or for bad. When used improperly, they become weapons that harm. Even things that seem small, could still have an effect. We don't realize the power and conseqence our words have. And when we are not cautious with our words, we don't just hurt the subject, we also hurt the listener(b/c we're causing them to sin by listening) and ourself(b/c we bring bad things on ourself when we speak badly).

There are times when we need to say something though, and so when that happens, we have to follow the guildlines of toeles. And we can't do that if we don't know what the guidelines are. And so we need to try and get a hold of this information, in case we need to say something about someone, we can do it without doing an aveira.

Here's a couple of options

http://www.artscroll.com/Books/ladh.html

or subscribe for free emails at
alessonaday@chofetzchaimusa.org
and put in the subject box, 'subscribe'

Think of the impact that our tefillos would have if they were not constently blocked by our loshon hara.

Bizarre

A while ago I made up a story that had a couple named Emily and Sean/Shawn in it.

Okay, and so this past evening, I was talking to this guy that I'm in a relationship with and part of the conversation was about different names that we like and pretendingly choose for ourself. After saying different names, I said Emily and guess what he said, Sean. How odd is that?! I was shocked. Out of so many names to pick from, he said that one. It was like a sign or something saying we Are that couple.

Beautiful message from her

It's an excellent message of Hashem's love for us.

just got a cold

I have a cold. It started on friday later on. And so on shabbos, during the day, I was sitting on the sofa which felt really good. I just wanted to sit and rest. It's a good thing it was shabbos. Later, I took a fast walk which also felt good. I don't know how I caught it, maybe I just need to take better care of myself. And maybe there's something going around. I hope this cold goes away soon.

Looking Within

Through out my life, I have gotten my share of criticism from different people. And every time, it's always a blow to my ego. I used to always defend myself and say, 'Yea but I did this and that.' They didn't care. They just wanted me to listen to them and learn. By the way, I'm talking about people giving my constructive criticism.

And so I decided, that's what I should do. Listen to them and learn. If they are telling me something that can help me improve myself, I should swallow my ego and take in their message.
And so now what I do is, instead of yea but... I say, your right, I should try to...

But if the criticism is pointless, then I feel that I should defend myself or just ignore the person.

I think we can all learn from this. If someone is criticizing us, we should first hear what they are saying and analyze whether they have a good point or no. If they do, we should take it in. If they don't, we should either defend ourself if we need to, or just ignore them.

What's your favorite?

What's your favorite book genre? I like a variety of books but my favorite in regards to novels, is horror. Not Steven King though. More like Dean Koontz. I like his books 'Cold Fire', 'The Watchers', and 'The Bad Place'. The book 'Lightning' also looks interesting. And I like other kinds of novels too which have an interesting story, like the book 'The Beach' and this book which I can't find anymore called 'The Insider'. For these, I go to the public library.

As for non-fiction, I like Jewish books that teach me something, like those that you see in Judaica stores and websites. Some I have read, and some I would like to read when I can get them, either from the Jewish library or a Judaica store. I also like inspirational stories, like the books, 'Touched By A Story' and 'Tales For The Soul'. Those are the only two books that I bought.
The other books I guess will have to wait for when I get more money.

What do you like?
